Job Description: Risk and Compliance Manager Purpose The role is required to ensure that an adequate Enterprise Risk Management Framework is in place, maintained and working effectively. To provide quantitative risk analytics, advising business on risk impact and opportunities, and the appropriate response strategies thereto, as well as providing assurance on the organizational health, regulatory compliance and internal control environment. To collaborate with Internal Audit and other assurance activities in ensuring an integrated approach to risk management. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for facilitating risk management as a second line of defence in the day-to-day operations. Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for working with the Head of Risk and Compliance in facilitating the complete lifecycle of the ERM process with a focus on integrating risk management techniques into the Company’s strategy and operational processes. Assist in the development and annual planning for ERM activities, budgets, and resources. Undertake a review of the groups ERM and Compliance Management Frameworks at regular intervals to ensure alignment with industry best practices. Perform reviews of the risk management process to continuously improve the existing Risk Management process. Facilitate risk assessments and quantification thereof across functional areas and maintain operational risk registers. Monitor emerging risks and all major risk movements and related management actions. Collate and report risk events and corrective action taken. Develop systems to facilitate risk monitoring and risk improvement by ensuring that the risk identification process is aligned with the Groups targets and objectives. Ensure that all risk categories are included in the risk assessment process, including the appropriate risk indicators on the risk registers; as well as the identification of relevant legal and regulatory compliance requirements. Monitor incident management and provide trends, performance monitoring and assurance. Monitor regulatory environment to identify changes applicable to areas of coverage and advise business on those changes and related obligations. Maintain an ongoing profile of key risks and emerging trends across the business. Monitor and remain abreast of risk management, compliance, and legislative developments impacting the organisation. Consult on an on-going basis with operational managers to ensure conformance with applicable laws and regulations. Identify potential areas of compliance risk, develop and implement corrective action plans for remediation. Maintain compliance risk management plans and monitoring thereof. Reporting to Management, and other stakeholders on risk, opportunities and compliance Work with the business to continuously review and improve the Business Continuity Management program including Disaster Recovery capability, to ensure an effective and optimised continuity of operations. Support the Head of Risk and Compliance with Redefine’s insurance program by coordinating and providing operational risk assurance. Responsible to align risk assurance activities across all operations to ensure consistency of governance approach, application, and reporting. Job Specific Requirements Job Knowledge: Provides guidance and assistance to business units with the identification, evaluation, understanding, management, and communication of significant business risks. Maintains a trusted, collaborative relationship with all organization management to promote an appropriate level of engagement in ERM activities with a high level of credibility for the ERM program. Builds strong alliances inside and outside the company to positively influence identification and resolution of significant risks/opportunities. Partners with business unit management to prepare risk self-assessments, including assessing the stated controls, identifying gaps, and facilitating the creation of management action plans. Sound understanding of relevant functional practices and policies of Risk and Compliance Management Job Related Skills: Ability to work accurately and effectively in a pressurised environment (such as time pressure or job ambiguity) and handling stress in an appropriate manner acceptable to others and to the organisation. Analytical skills and the ability to work in a methodical and organised manner. Ability to be proactive, influence and thereby seize opportunities to accomplish objectives. Ability to use appropriate interpersonal skills and communication strategies to inspire and guide individuals, and to gain acceptance of ideas and plans. Strong presentation and facilitation skills. Job Experience: Minimum 10 years’ managerial experience in an operational risk management field 8+ years of experience in compliance and ethics, legal, risk management and/or mitigation, internal audit, or other similar governance areas. Sound knowledge of and experience in the relevant regulations and laws, particularly relating to anti-corruption and anti-bribery. Fraud awareness and prevention/investigations Sound knowledge and experience of risk quantification methodologies and impact analysis. Education: Relevant B degree / Qualification in Risk Management/ Business Administration/ Legal Certified Risk Management Practitioner/Professional (CRM Prac/Prof) would be an advantage. Certified Compliance and Ethics (CCEP) credentials would be an advantage. Membership to the Institute of Risk Management. Competency Requirements: Deep understanding of risk and opportunity identification, assessment and mitigation techniques and approaches. Strong risk analysis and quantification skills essential. A sound understanding of business strategy development, strategy execution and operations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic corporate environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (fluent in English), with ability to communicate professionally across all levels within the organization.
