Hire Resolve’s client in the Engineering industry is urgently seeking the expertise of a Structural/Civil Business Unit Lead in Pretoria/Johannesburg.Responsibilities:Provide leadership to the Structural/Civil DivisionProvide technical guidance to Structural EngineersManage and oversee projects undertaken by Civil EngineersTeam and project organisation structuringBusiness developmentCommercial and financial management of team and projectsStakeholder management and needs analysisWin new work by leading all aspects of bids leveraging relationships with public and private clients and consulting partnersLead project execution in respect of technical delivery, pricing, resource balancing, change management, budget control, and maintenance of as-bid marginsTechnical approval of designs, assessments, and calculations in accordance with quality proceduresCommunicate verbally and in-writing with clients via meetings, reports, and virtual platforms in the interests of project progress and by resolving conflict as it arisesReview project performance through governance mechanisms and lead the team to “course correct” as project issues ariseDevelop staff with a particular focus on developing a layer of middle management, mentorship of junior engineers toward registration, and growing the digital skill set of staff to industry-leading standardsRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in engineering (B Eng / BSc Eng / B Tech Eng)Professional Engineer/Technologist (Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng with ECSA)A minimum of 10 years post graduate experience in a multi-disciplinary environment gained from client, consultant, and/or contractor perspectiveMinimum of 10 years’ structural experience within the Built Environment industry with at least 5 years leading a team of 10 or more staff in your own practice or a business unit in a larger firmAn accomplished technical Team Leader with the ability to support, mentor, and develop less experienced engineersExcellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levelsProfessional registration with relevant Project Management bodies (ECSA, SACPCMP, and/or PMI)Previous track record in successfully generating new businessAbility to liaise with relevant stakeholders at all levelsComputer literacy in MS OfficeSound structural engineering knowledge and experience in reinforced concrete, structural steel, and load-bearing masonry designAn intimate working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Access, and Microsoft ProjectBe well acquainted with local contractorsMust be a team player at all times and lead/support the team with integrity and respectAn awareness and appreciation for health, safety, and environmental issuesStrong project management skills (PMBOK) will be an advantageLeadership skills, motivated, and disciplinedFlexible approach and multi-tasking abilitiesProblem solver and innovatorBenefits:Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)Training & DevelopmentPaid Time Off (PTO)Location: Pretoria/JohannesburgAnnual Salary: R750K/yr – R900K/yr, negotiableContact Hire Resolve for your next career-changing move.
