Lead accounting activities, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to strategic financial decision making. Key Responsibilities: Accounting for Fixed Assets: Ensure accurate recording of fixed asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation. Capitalize fixed assets in accordance with accounting standards. Maintain detailed records of fixed asset transactions for audit purposes. Depreciation and Disposal Management: Calculate depreciation expenses using appropriate methods (e.g., straight-line, accelerated). Monitor fixed assets for impairment and adjust carrying values as necessary. Properly record disposals or retirements of fixed assets, including gains or losses. Accuracy of Wear and Tear Schedule: Review wear and tear schedules regularly to ensure accuracy. Investigate any discrepancies or variances in wear and tear calculations. Update wear and tear schedules to reflect changes in asset usage or condition. Asset Register Maintenance: Maintain an up-to-date asset register containing relevant details for each fixed asset. Reconcile the asset register with the general ledger and physical asset counts. Collaborate with other departments to ensure all fixed assets are properly accounted for and tracked. Requirements: Being a registered Chartered Accountant with 7 to 10 years of post articles experience, preferably in the mining sector. Demonstrating a solid grasp of IFRS, SARS, and SARB Regulations. Possessing substantial experience in financial accounting roles, emphasizing financial reporting and analysis. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. A strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations, coupled with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
