An opportunity exists for a Commercial Underwriting Manager (WIB) to join the Distribution Department. The successful applicant will be responsible for the overall management of the Commercial underwriting teams. This role will report into the Executive Head of Distribution and the successful candidate will participate in strategic and operational activities. This position is based in Centurion.DescriptionIncrease overall profitability of the company•Manage operational cost in department.•Maintaining profitable loss ratios. (Weekly spots checks / Identify abuse of mandates and rectify accordingly)•New business and budget growth. (Weekly spots checks / Identify mistakes and rectify if need be)Management of the quotation team•Monitoring of the conversion rates (check on each insurer to identify trends and investigate to ensure rates are correct and there are no errors)•Ensuring SLA and Quality are in line with targets set, and remedial actions where required.•Process improvement (continuously looking at better ways)•Quote follow up processRetention•Monitoring of churn ratio (identify trends)•Cancellation reason analysis (identify weak areas in service or missed opportunities to retain)•Ensure staff are following retention processesAchieve strategic results.•Monitor timelines and deadlines, communicate accordingly•Attend priority sessions to ensure alignment and awareness of business functions and projects.Stakeholder relationship management•Liaise with internal and external stakeholders with aim of building and maintaining relationships.Current Insurers:•Hollard – Commercial, Agri, Sectional Title, Engineering PAR and CAR•Bryte – Commercial, Flexi, Body Corporate, Takaful, Engineering PAR and CAR, Hospitality•Santam - Commercial, Agri, Sectional Title, Schools, Marine, SHA•OMI - Commercial, Agri, Sectional TitleBrand ambassadorship – ensuring that the Brolink brand is positioned positively in the market•Attend work related functions•Daily/ weekly communication to Brokers and partners on operational mattersManagement of Operational and Internal processes Compliance•Ensure that PPR disclosures are correct (log ticket, spot checks, liaise with Insurers, UAT testing and sign off)•All documentation to be correct with POPIA, FICA, RDR requirements (Schedules, system letters, communication from system)•Audit representation (engage with insurer audit teams, provide feedback and co-ordinate remedial actions where required)Complaints management and Treating Customers Fairly•Manage the complaints process within environment (use RCA to improve department shortfalls)•Engage with TCF Champion to align expectations and manage TCF process and co-ordinate training and understanding•Manage complaints that are escalated via, CEO, Executive,•Ombudsman, Hello Peter, Brokers to point of resolution.Mandate management.•Ensure mandates are in line with product and underwriting rules.•Monitor volumes•Manage SLA (4 Hours)Manage effective underwriting activities and ensure appropriate processes on various schemes and Systems. WIB/Tial and soon Guidewire)•Keep processes updated on all channels (Traditional brokers, digital and contact center)•Updating and Management of Underwriting Handbook and all related processesOversee allocation of resources.•Daily monitoring of productivity and workload balanceReporting to Executive. (Daily and when necessary)•Discount•Data Integrity•Department Productivity•SLA•Age Analysis•Drafts•Risk Cancellation•Annual Renewals•Monthly Renewals•Monthly Exec slides on all operational activities, and for One on One discussion with ExecManage and oversee book take-overs \ transfers in accordance with company and compliance requirements.•Arrange sign off from insurer (compile in insurer format)•Ensure all documents and processes are adhered to (ITC consent, debit order authority etc)•Plan and execute transfer onto Websure•Implementation discussion with Underwriting Team•Quality check and sign-offEnsure adherence to audit requirements and remedial measures on findings.•Various meetings – (Internally and Externally. Brokers, Insurers – Monthly meetings and catch up sessios, Team Meetings, Morning Huddle sessions, Management Meetings, System re-write Meeting, Future Reloaded Meetings etc)•Oversee full operational functionality of the following divisions : Underwriting and Quotes.•National and Traditional BrokersBroker Visits (PTA Region).•Assisting with PTA Broker Visits portfolio of 79 Brokers•Conveying Brolink / Insurers Changes•Discuss growth•Discuss Loss ratio•Discuss and sort out underwriting, Claims and Commission Issues•On Board new Brokers – PWG Group and Retha Bwise Book Taker.•Part of system Rewrite.•Part of Operational Module Workshop.•Attend sessions / Partake in sessions / Implement and work through information•Oversee special projects•Manage staff component to deal with Special Projects•Oversee the effective execution of deliverables.•Champion change management as may be required.IT \ System Requirements•Be part of and oversee System related error \ incident tracking•Be part of and oversee System fixes•Monitor and track system logs.•Monitor and track system projects.•Be part of and oversee new product built and implementation.•Register Brokers and Staff on Santam Portal. Sent M-ID’s to Santam, Follow up and advice when opened on Santam Portal.Training•Train new staff members on WIB and Tial Refresher courses on system to staff.•New functionalities released in WIB – Train Staff•Arrange training for staff BDC and Brokers.Oversee employee engagement and performance•Manage staff.•Ensure motivated and retained staff.•Actively train and develop staff (guidance, mentoring and formal training)•Effective management of employee relations.•General people management administration – e.g. leave and disciplinary processes.•Create positive energy amongst team Champion changes introducedto the company in general and team in particular.Minimum Requirements:•Matric is an essential requirement•FAIS Credits (as per FAIS requirement)•Must be Fit & Proper in terms of the FAIS Act•Regulatory Exam: Representatives•Must not be debarred with FSCAWork ExperienceMinimum Requirements:•Minimum 10 years work experience with at least 5 years of senior management experience.•A proven track record of driving financial and operational performance within a division.•Proven track record management broker relationships.•Proven track record managing underwriting environments.•Display a high tolerance for stressful environments.Preferable experience:•Extensive experience within the Short-Term insurance industry.•5 - 8 years commercial underwriting experience#J-18808-Ljbffr
