The responsibilities of a collections analyst are outlined in this document, and performance objectives are to be aligned with this guideline.Collections strategy management:Demonstrate in-depth understanding of the portfolioClear understanding of collections and impairments, and the drivers thereofClear understanding of the documented strategy and policy within portfolioConduct quality credit risk assessments and reviews for all BAU processes and strategyProactively manage credit risks associated with clientsDesign and develop data driven collections strategies by identifying gaps, providing solutions, and aligning to overall portfolio strategy, e.g., provide insights and solutions to inform STP/RAF targetsEmbed enhancements to collections strategies through rigorous research and interrogation of dataData and Systems Management:Drive ownership of BAU, Ad-Hoc, and automated SAS codes (i.e., know the data sources used, logic applied)To produce and analyse relevant management information and insights within stipulated SLAPerform quality data analysis and data processing techniques (i.e., sourcing, cleaning, analysing, validation and consolidating large data sets utilising strong SAS skills and identifying anomalies/trends)Governance:Adhere to the bank's credit risk policies and all relevant legislationComplete compliance training within given timelinesSupport end-to-end audit and governance processesKeep abreast with regulatory changes as it relates to collectionsAlign to BU and industry best practicesSupport processes relating to portfolio forums, i.e., minute taking, completing actions on the action log, updating discussion papers, etc.Understand, investigate, and provide thorough feedback on exceptionsSave analytics and BAU files on the shared drive, adhering to agreed standardsCustomer and stakeholder management:Liaising with relevant stakeholders, including IT, Operations, Finance, and other Risk teamsSupport the investigation and resolution of all escalated customer complaintsActive participation and constructive engagement at various forums, e.g., CRF, PQR, Ops engagement sessions.Presentation of analytical results and proposals to both technical and non-technical audiences, providing commentary as requiredDrive a collaborative culture with peers through knowledge sharingSoft skillsCommunicate effectively with all stakeholdersConduct oneself professionallyAcknowledge stakeholder emails, calls, and other communication (i.e., follow up where required)Manage time and workload Education Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)Absa Bank Limited is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer.
