Direct message the job poster from Snatch | Accounting&Finance Headhunters Researching for Talent in Finance and Accounting A leading non-profit organisation focused on education is currently seeking a Financial Manager to join their team in Johannesburg. As the Financial Manager, you report directly to the CFO, overseeing budget, forecasting, financial management, and reporting for programs, projects, and partner activities. Other responsibilities include risk management and active involvement in fundraising and grant management. RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead and mentor finance and operations teams, including guidance on professional development. Promote a culture that emphasises accountability, transparency, and ethical behaviour. Facilitate and create conditions for joint budgeting with franchisors for implementation plans. This includes analysing and preparing program/franchisor budgets and preparing budget presentations for the CFO, Manco, Exco, and the Board. Coordinate financial management with franchisors for program performance and establish SOPs for franchisor financial management and tools for tracking key financial metrics. Review and approve monthly payment submissions, process invoices and authorise payments. Prepare monthly financial reports and collaborate on performance analysis with franchise managers. Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning for funder proposals and agreements, including tracking incoming payments against cashflow commitments in funder agreements. Manage and account for all funds responsibly. Prepare timely financial information for funder reporting, including collaboration with other departments. Prepare and finalise audits as well as any other relevant external reviews. Identify and mitigate financial risks through robust accounting procedures and internal controls. Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance, statutory, and regulatory requirements. Enhance staff performance, development, and succession through effective feedback, coaching, and training. Collaborate with the HR department in recruiting and onboarding team members. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 8+ years of financial experience with three years in management. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, and Business Administration. CA (SA) is strongly preferred. Experience in an educational, NGO or government environment is beneficial. Proven track record in fundraising and project/cost accounting. Experience in Sage Intacct accounting and inventory is beneficial. SALARY: Cost to Company Per Annum: R900 000 – R1.2m, depending on the candidate.
