Responsibility for safety and compliance with standards: Supervise the nursing care in the dialysis unit by means of nursing care policies and procedures, ensuring staff efficiency, monitoring nursing care results and initiating corrective actions. Ensures proper implementation of: Nursing care policies and procedures (e.g. NC Standard Good Dialysis Care and NC Standard Hygiene and Infection Control), Clinic processes and pathways (such as patient and staff pathway, contaminated and non-contaminated waste disposal, etc.) Ensures organizational standards, dialysis machine and medical equipment handling and safety. Ensures compliance with local and corporate safety and hygiene and infection control regulations. Nursing activity: Ensures an excellent level of patient care, nursing&hygiene practice. Continuously seeks to improve the level of patient care. Supports Dialysis Unit Medical Director in implementing dialysis unit strategy and steers nursing activities in order to achieve this objective. Supervises correct data reporting in EuCliD. Performs all activities listed for NC Dialysis Unit Nurse if needed. Representation: Represents the nursing care function at dialysis unit level, especially by creating transparency on clinical performance (e.g. fistula infections, catheter exit site infections), identifying risk factors belonging to nursing care and taking corrective action, together with Dialysis Unit Medical Director. Staff efficiency&performance: Performs overall patient&staff planning, with focus on ensuring efficient operations. Allocates activities&tasks to dialysis unit staff under his/her coordination. Is responsible for staff performance, conducts performance appraisals and ensures competence development via training&education. Checks compliance with all applicable standards for staff under his/her coordination. Organizes nursing training and education in cooperation with Country Head Nurse and/or NC Training&Education Manager. Resource planning&allocation: Is responsible for procurement of treatment related supplies, allocation and resource management, following compliance with approved budgets. Is responsible for safekeeping of materials and medicines stored in the dialysis unit and for correct recording of consumption. Is responsible for correct and efficient organisation of warehouse and storage units, following applicable standards for temperature and hygiene. Has direct responsibility over the activity of all personnel under his/her coordination. Leadership&people management: Steers the activity of nursing&hygiene staff in the direction of implementing local headquarters’ strategy. Has people management responsibility, including nursing and hygiene staff planning and organizing, participating in personnel appraisals as well as ensuring a high level of staff efficiency. Ensures a good organizational climate, a performance-oriented attitude and a high level of commitment and cooperation between staff. Required training and education: University degree or equivalent diploma (esp. Registered General Nurse diploma), preferably with Nephrology Nursing Diploma. Required professional experience (in years): 5-8 years working experience in dialysis nursing function, preferably with previous supervision/management experience.
