Main Purpose: To take responsibility for accurately calculating the total costs associated with a construction, fabrication or maintenance project in accordance with the project and Company requirements. To also review bids offered by subcontractors in order to choose the most cost effective option for inclusion in projects.Key Performance Areas:Evaluate enquiry documents with relevant responsible Managers and Proposals Engineer.Visit sites to ascertain site requirements.Determine the order of operations and tasks to be performed to implement the project.Identify the types and amounts of materials required to implement the project.Prepare timelines,construction schedules and manpower histograms in conjunction with the Project Planner.Advise on special erection equipmentand tools and other requirements for specific projects.Prepare and issue erection/construction method statements to be incorporated into tender documents in conjunction with the relevant engineering department.Produce accurate manpower estimation sheets, priced equipment lists and provisional and general costing for the project aligned with the construction schedules and method statements.Prepare a projected cash flow for the proposal.Liaise with Proposal Engineers and incorporate any modification as required.Produce the basis of cost reporting and evaluate contractual issues.Assist with cost controlling should queries arise during project execution.Attend internal and client meetings.Coach and mentor Junior Estimators.Manage Estimating teams on multidisciplinary tenders involving complex estimating processes involving engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction.Update Masters as and when labour rates schedules change.Update company norms schedule.Liaise with Legal officer for commercial qualifications and approvals.Perform Crane studies to establish crane and lifting requirements.Quantity take offs by means of using the scope right up and or drawings.Do data analyses and information processing i.e. review scope documents and drawings provided to produce a competitive bid/tender.Any other job related duties as required from time to time.Ability to do presentations to and communicate to Senior Management.Deadlines driven, punctual and keeps to schedule.Accuracy of record keeping and assumption.Coaching and mentoring skills.Ability to work under pressure and keep to strict deadlines.Ability to read and understand project schedules.Preferred Requirements:B.Sc., B.Eng. or B.Tech. degree in Quantity Surveying or Piping or Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical/Civil Engineering with more than 10 years' construction project estimating experience.National Diploma or National Technical certificate (N3-N6) with 15 years’ related working experience.Professional registration would be advantageous.10 Years’ construction site experience with a demonstrable project estimating track record in the mechanical and engineering environment.Experience in contracts administration and cost controlling.Experience in industrial boilers, pressure – and non-pressure parts (piping).Proven track record of accurate estimation of manpower, capital and indirect costs for construction projects.Knowledge of and able to read and understand all types of technical drawings.Knowledge of engineering contracts (NEC and FIDIC).Knowledge of cost estimating and control principles from the AACE.Knowledge of commercially available estimating software i.e. Candy (CCS) or winQS. 2 people have applied for this job. 127 people have viewed this job.#J-18808-Ljbffr
