ENVIRONMENT: AN ambitious Junior Health&Safety Officer is sought to join the Joburg team of a dynamic provider of IT Connectivity Solutions where your core role will be to drive the company Health and Safety initiatives and programmes. You will ensure that all building Health and Safety requirements for North regional office e.g. Fire extinguishers, evacuation plans, etc. are up to date and implemented while issuing annual PPE and H&S equipment and participating in the in-house safety induction training for staff&contractors. The ideal candidate must be able to thrive in a fast paced, pressurized environment, preferably have 1 year’s suitable work experience with solid knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and construction regulations&Introduction to SAMTRAC and SAMTRAC. You must be registered with the SACPCMP council or candidate registration as Construction Health and Safety Officer. / Proof of payment for year 2024-2025 letter of good standing. You will also be required to have a valid Driver’s License and own vehicle. DUTIES: Oversee and assist the Health and Safety of the North regional office and client sites in liaison with National Health and Safety Manager based in HO. Ensure that all building Health and Safety requirements for North regional office e.g. Fire extinguishers, evacuation plans, etc. are up to date and implemented. Assist in evacuation drills as planned. Involved in safety representative meetings. Facilitate all forms of risk assessments required. Annual issuing of PPE and H&S equipment. Oversee and assist with arrangements for annual medical fitness certificates for North region. Annual in-house safety induction training for staff and contractors for North region. H&S Construction Site Inspections on client sites (ongoing projects). H&S On-Site Audits on client sites when ongoing project (ongoing projects). Assist in compiling and implementation of construction H&S site files. REQUIREMENTS: Experience minimum 1 year would be beneficial. Good knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and construction regulations. Introduction to SAMTRAC and SAMTRAC. Registration with the SACPCMP council or candidate registration as Construction Health and Safety Officer. / Proof of payment for year 2024-2025 letter of good standing. Computer literate. Valid Driver’s License and own vehicle. Mobile phone device and laptop will be issued by company. Advantageous – Valid competency certificates for 1ST Aider, HIRA (Hazard Identification Risk Assessment). ATTRIBUTES: Good communication skills. Problem solving skills. Decision-making ability.
