Job Description The Manager Environment will be responsible for providing environmental technical support to the De Beers Group and Managed Operations Key Responsibilities: Facilitate the implementation of appropriate tools and processes that will enable the implementation of the Group Environment Strategy, Objectives, Programmes, Standards and Targets Analyse data and trends to identify risks or opportunities that need to be managed or explored. Maintain the De Beers Group environment risk log and follow up to ensure action plans are on track. Implement Group environment programmes. Draft, for approval, the scopes, budgets and schedules for environmental assignments, studies or programmes. Provide advice, technical input and guidance to the De Beers BUs/operations environmental, biodiversity, water management and mine closure standards, guidelines, assurance tools, and initiatives. Provide support to the BUs/operations to draft scopes, budgets and schedules for environmental assignments, studies or programmes. Conduct incident investigations and develop and maintain the Group Environment incident reporting framework, and database, analyse and share learnings to shape and embed a culture of continuous collaborative learning from incidents. Develop and maintain the key emergency and crisis management response framework, processes and tools and ensure appropriate testing Manage Group and Managed ops Permitting requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an Environmental / Natural Sciences discipline 5 years post-graduate experience in the field of environmental management Strong technical expertise, business acumen and experience in design and implementation of environmental programmes Strong expertise in delivery of environmental management programmes Practical experience of working at site level in a company or consultancy Demonstrated experience of delivering programmes to budget and schedule and measurement of environmental impact Experience working in complex stakeholder environments. Knowledge and Skills: Performance Reporting Mining&Process Operations Project management Strong communication and influencing skills. Commercial acumen, problem solving and risk identification. Strong stakeholder management Strong analytical and risk assessment skills Proven ability to prepare, manage and analyze data. Advanced environmental, permitting, water management, and mine closure knowledge. Advanced Understanding of environmental management Legislation and Regulations Environmental management audit and assurance practice Key policy drivers in environmental management.
