My client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Journal Controller to join their finance team.The Journal Controller will be responsible for maintaining recurring journals, processing journal entries, resolving queries in a timely manner, and assisting with ad hoc projects as required.This role is based in Sandton, Johannesburg North.Key Responsibilities:Maintain Recurring Journals:Keep a comprehensive checklist of all recurring journals to be processed monthly, bi-annually, or annually.Manage various types of recurring journals including payroll, revenue, AP accrual/AR, assets/***, and tax-related journals.Obtain Documentation:Obtain all necessary journal entries and supporting documentation.Ensure all ad hoc or corrections journals are accompanied by the required documentation.Process Journal Entries:Execute journal entries accurately and efficiently.Ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policies.Query Resolution:Resolve queries related to journal entries within a 2-day period.Clear queries promptly.Brand Support:Address ad hoc queries from different brands within the organisation.Collaborate with brand representatives to ensure accurate financial records.Audit Support:Provide necessary information and support to internal and external auditors.Assist in audit preparations and ensure compliance with audit requirements.Ad Hoc Projects:Execute tasks defined by the Team Lead for additional projects.Timely execution of ad hoc projects, such as D365 migration tasks or other finance-related initiatives.Qualifications and Skills:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.3 years' experience in a Cashbook/Bookkeeper or Accountant role.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., D365).If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply directly.
