Duties&Responsibilities Overview: The Lead Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing the operations and fiscal health of the respective project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project management, strong technical expertise, and exceptional leadership skills. This role is responsible for overseeing and leading the output of the project team under them and the management and delivery of projects in a process plant design and construction environment. The Lead Project Engineer is responsible for the project engineers to ensure they work to fulfil the company strategy and their scope of work according to their job descriptions by conducting performance reviews on a regular basis. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget, and quality standards. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, procurement, manufacturing, and construction, to achieve project goals. Provide technical guidance and support to project team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Communicate project status updates and key milestones to stakeholders, including clients, senior management, and external partners. Key Peformance Areas: Technical Engineering: Maintain technical integrity and scope definition throughout project lifecycle. Ensure technical quality meets contract requirements and approved design criteria. Establish and maintain long-term relationships with service providers to enhance service quality. Ensure understanding and integration of supplier and contractor interfaces into project design and delivery. Project Engineering and Administration: Control flow of technical information among clients, suppliers, and internal teams. Manage project engineering documentation in accordance with project and company procedures. Define and agree upon project scope and quality requirements, adhering to change control procedures. Comply with company and project cost control guidelines and procedures. Maintain direct costs within budget and ensure timely completion of project deliverables and documentation for client handover. Leadership: Provide leadership to ensure team alignment. Ensure employees understand their job requirements. Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports. Technical Reviews: Review vendor documentation to ensure compliance with project/client requirements and standards. Conduct technical evaluations of mechanical equipment. Perform engineering material investigations and trade-offs for cost-effective solutions. Review internally generated engineering drawings to meet project/client requirements and standards. Participate in model and HAZOP reviews. Desired Experience&Qualification N.Dip in Mechanical Engineering / BSc. Eng / B Tech: Mechanical Engineering. ECSA Registered preferred. Minimum of 5 years experience in project engineering work relating to process plants, as well as engineering design on projects pertaining to process plant design and construction. Proven experience in project management. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership / managerial role. Strong technical expertise. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
