Komatsu Africa Holdings (Pty) Ltd (KAfH) is seeking a qualified and experienced Chartered Accountant to join this dynamic organisation as Chief Financial Officer. The incumbent, already exposed to, and part of the senior leadership team of an organisation, will strategically lead a multi-discipline finance function comprising of information, communication, and technology (ICT), payroll & resource planning, group retail funding, tax, legal & compliance, oversight of fleet management and fulfil a critical role in driving the financial success and future growth of the organisation. Key Responsibilities To provide effective professional and strategic financial leadership in governing and influencing sound financial management, accounting systems and processes in compliance with relevant legislative requirements. In addition, the role is responsible for a diverse, multi-discipline function including ICT, payroll, retail funding, tax & legal services, and fleet management. Leadership: Builds, strengthens, and leads a high-performing finance, Payroll & Resource Planning, Group Retail Funding, Fleet Management, Insurance, Facilities Management, and ICT teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. Directs a multi-discipline Finance team ensuring their ongoing professional development and training. Participates in key decisions as a member of the executive management team. Strategic Planning: Leads and directs the financial strategy of the Group. This includes long-term financial planning, forecasting, treasury management, tax compliance, legal compliance, insurance and risk management strategies. Leads and directs Group policies, procedures and systems for a multi-discipline focused function, enabling efficient functioning of the company aligned with sound business principles and corporate governance practices. Contributes to the development of strategic, annual business performance plans in facilitating the success of this key business process. Directs the company's financial operations. Governs the Group’s financial transactions, policies, and procedures to meet the organisation's short to long-term business objectives, conducted in accordance with regulations, sound accounting principles, and compliance standards. Oversees the preparation and communication of annual financial statements including being fully compliant with latest IFRS standards. Knowledge of US GAAP is considered advantageous. Governs the timely reporting of key financial data and updates to the President & Managing Director, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders. Directs the business planning / budgeting process in line with the business priorities, including compiling monthly, quarterly financials and performance reports, providing recommendations and advice to address variances. Performs the organisational secretariat function. Retail Finance: Directs and expands the Group Retail Finance function, including the management of credit risk relating to financing agreements for customers in Southern Africa. Payroll: Directs the payroll department for KAfH ensuring compliance with country specific regulatory and legislative requirements. Information Communications Technology (ICT) Leads the ICT department, aligning the scope of ICT requirements from a technical, architectural and business perspective with the organisational vision, goals and objectives. Drives strategic change through the implementation of technology through matching people and processes in a structured and planned approach. Tax, Legal & Compliance Management: Directs the tax, legal and regulatory compliance processes required by the Group. This includes tax planning and compliance with tax regulations. Governs internal controls, enforcing, and reviewing conformance to accounting and financial standards and applicable regulations. Reviews and improves accounting, audit, financial reporting & management, and asset management processes, ensuring sound governance and compliance with relevant standards. Serves as a point of contact between the KAfH and the external audit partners and coordinates the entity financial audit activities and responses. Key Role Requirements : Qualification: Professionally qualified (CA) Chartered Accountant. Professional Registration with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) is required. Professional registration with other relevant professional bodies such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) would be advantageous. Experience: 15 years working experience within the financial discipline (finance, accounting, or auditing environment and commercial finance). A minimum of 6 years’ experience at strategic management level i.e., Paterson E- Lower, working for a multinational organisation Experience within the manufacturing, mining or construction industry would be advantageous. Commercial Finance Management is a critical part of this role and experience in this area is required. Experience working with SAP ERP system. Knowledge & Skills: Sound knowledge of applicable legislation frameworks, including but not limited to Commercial Law, Company law, Tax Law, Banking Law, Administrative / Public law, and Intellectual Property Law. Knowledge of IFRIS, KING IV (J -SOX advantageous) Understanding & knowledge of FIC requirements & legislation Knowledge of information technology systems implementation. Skilled in analysing, interpreting, and evaluating financial information, advising leadership on sound investment options for medium to long-term planning. Ability to establish relationships within the banking, legal and business community. Ability to compile the company annual report, financial statements & reports. Ability to implement internal systems and controls to ensure sound financial management.
