With this position, you would be joining a dynamic administrative team who directly facilitate and support the advancement of research, education, and knowledge translation in obstetrics and gynaecology, from a local to a global perspective.As Communications and Outreach Officer, you will advise on and implement a robust communications strategy that showcases the broad range of academic, research, and advocacy work in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This strategy will include short- to medium-length news pieces, social media, departmental newsletters and other types of publications, as well as outreach to alumni audiences.The successful incumbent in this role will independently and confidently take stewardship of all aspects of the communications portfolio, working collaboratively as part of our administrative team while also nurturing relationships with faculty members, allied healthcare providers, and the Temerty Medicine communications team.Your multipronged communications plan will play a central role in highlighting the achievements of our Department, while also elevating the broader impact of our work on the health of women, trans people, and nonbinary people—in Toronto, across Canada, and internationally.Your responsibilities will include:Developing and implementing communication plans that support outreach goals and department objectivesConducting interviews with individuals for University publicationProducing promotional and outreach materialsAdvising on strategies to maximize social media presence and growth and creating and maintaining presence on social media platformsCustomizing and coordinating website updates according to objectivesDelivering presentations outlining proposals to attract sponsorship opportunitiesTraining staff and faculty on the application of social media and content management systemsBuilding and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importanceEssential Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experienceMinimum four years of relevant communications experience in a university, teaching hospital or comparable environmentExperience developing and implementing communications strategies and plansExperience making recommendations for improvements based on insights, best practices and objectivesExperience creating and deploying digital materials (newsletters, social media and web content), and effectively utilizing digital metricsDemonstrated experience coordinating digital and print communications projects consistent with employer brandingExperience developing and maintaining brand presence across all communications channelsExperience delivering presentations and training end usersExperience building and maintaining strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholdersAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Creative SuiteSkilled in working with content management systems, web analytics and e-newsletter softwareSuperb written and oral communications skillsExcellent research, writing, editing, and print design/layout skills are essentialA self-starter possessing the ability to work independently in a high-profile, time-sensitive environment while balancing competing prioritiesDemonstrated ability to create concise, effective written content, drawing from interviews with sources as well as translation of clinical and scientific material for a lay audienceMust be creative, resourceful and solutions-orientedAssets (Nonessential):Experience cultivating strong relationships with alumniExperience working with Drupal, Canva, MailChimpTo be successful in this role you will be:ArticulateOrganizedProactiveSelf-directed Closing Date: 06/03/2024, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: USWAppointment Type: Budget - ContinuingSchedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 11 -- $73,748 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $94,310.
