Working closely with academic divisions, OSR is responsible for regularly planning, implementing, assessing and revising a full spectrum of student recruitment initiatives. Your opportunity: Under the general direction of and reporting to the Assistant Director, University Student Recruitment - Equity&Outreach and supporting other members of the Office of Student Recruitment and related tri-campus offices, the Recruitment Officer – Equity, Outreach and Support is responsible for positively working with, and representing the tri-campus offices at the University of Toronto as a shared service to assist with the development and implementation of strategies and initiatives to recruit well-qualified students from under-represented groups to the University of Toronto. The incumbent will work with the Assistant Director, University Student Recruitment - Equity&Outreach to gather information on strategies that have been successful in promoting post-secondary education within under-represented communities including resources and initiatives; work with student groups (e.g. Black Students Association, First Nations House, first generation organizations) to promote outreach to community groups and schools; build and maintain knowledge and data related to recruiting students from underrepresented communities; and provide admissions counselling to prospective under-represented undergraduate students, their families, high school officials, and the general public by phone, e-mail, and in person. Your responsibilities will include: Fostering and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies Implementing community relations outreach plans for targeted audiences Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials Promoting programs at recruitment events Delivering student recruitment presentations Liaising with contacts to facilitate and initiate outreach opportunities Keeping well-informed on theories related to equity, diversity and inclusion Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum four (4) years related experience in undergraduate student recruitment, within a large post-secondary institution Demonstrated experience working with under-represented groups and equity initiatives Demonstrated experience advising prospective students and parents Demonstrated experience conducting recruitment presentations to a large and diverse audience Experience with web content development, data collection and manipulation, and generating reports and statistical data Experience using and maintaining an online database Excellent knowledge of University of Toronto programs and admission requirements; Strong understanding of University of Toronto commitment to principles of equity and knowledge of supporting programs Must have strong oral and written communication Strong customer service, organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills Excellent computer skills, including in-depth working knowledge of and extensive experience with Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Keynote, Prezi, HTML and Content Management Systems; Familiarity with ROSI or similar student information system Must have a strong, demonstrated interest in Social Media communications and their applications Reliable – possessing sound judgement, flexible with an ability to adapt to changing circumstances At all times demonstrate a desire for learning from all contexts, enthusiasm for new knowledge Ability to work independently, or as part of a team, and collaboratively with colleagues from other post-secondary institutions Must be willing to travel outside of the GTA when necessary, sometimes overnight Valid driver’s license mandatory Assets (Nonessential): University of Toronto graduate preferred Experience with CRM database is a definite asset To be successful in this role you will be: Adaptable Approachable Multi-tasker Responsible Team player Closing Date: 09/25/2024, 11:59PM ET Employee Group: USW Appointment Type: Budget - Continuing Schedule: Full-Time Pay Scale Group&Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 12 -- $79,874. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $102,147.
