Packhouse Manager (Soft Fruit)

You will manage the process of taking harvested fruit dispatched to meet with customer specifications on time, in full at the highest possible quality AND be responsible for quality assurance, intake supervisor, Packhouse supervisor and Dispatch and packaging supervisor. Key Responsibilities:• Develop and implement in collaboration with Growers and Sales a planning process for the Packhouse to meet packing of forecasted volumes.• Ensure all cold chain protocols are followed in each area• Plan and implement Packhouse maintenance schedules including preventative maintenance• Enforce compliance with planned maintenance schedules•Management of productivity, labour and quality processes in the packhouse•Sound leadership and direction in the packhouse ensuring quality product output, accuracy and consistency in packhouse processes and documentation.• Maintain and improve overall packaging operations to ensure efficiency and ability to meet targets• Manage compliance of packing regulations, health and safety and other relevant legislative requirements•Building and implementing best practice policies and principles.•Develop and train a team of packhouse staff.•Ensuring high standards of health and safety practices.•Ensuring compliance to all necessary industry quality assurance standards.•Meeting all specifications for local and export customers Requirements:•Tertiary qualification•A minimum of 5 years working as Packhouse Manager in a soft fruit/berry packhouse•Must have excellent management experience.•Must have excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.•Must have good numerical and planning skills.•Must be self-disciplined, a team player, honest and of high integrity.•Must be able to work under minimum supervision while meeting the set targets & deadlines.•Must be willing to work overtime and weekends•Experience in HACCP, BRC, and or other quality system would be advantageous.•Experience in managing soft fruit (labour intensive) pack houses would be advantageous.
