The successful candidate must hold MD, Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology qualifications. They must have or be eligible for licensure in Ontario. In addition, they must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. Effective start date of the appointment is September 1, 2024, or to be negotiated. The successful candidate must have an advanced fellowship training in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) and research skills in clinical epidemiology research that aims to advance the understanding of the pathogenesis, care, and healthcare delivery of IBD. Given the multicultural and geographic location of our health system, a further asset would be a proven record on epidemiology research in vulnerable populations with IBD, such as immigrants, those of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. Candidates with an expertise and a proven record in large database research, development of data registries and biostatics (i.e., advanced modelling and programming) is preferred. The desirable qualities of the successful candidate should have an appropriate graduate degree (PhD or equivalent). A demonstratable strong and focused publication track record related to IBD and epidemiology research is imperative. In addition, excellent teaching abilities is required. The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the UHN and SH is a group of 34 gastroenterologists and hepatologists. The Division has active clinical and academic programs in many areas of gastroenterology and hepatology including IBD, nutrition, pancreatic cancer, neurogastroenterology and motility, viral hepatitis, cholestatic and autoimmune liver diseases, fatty liver, portal hypertension, hepatocellular carcinoma and liver transplantation. SH is a health care organization comprised of Mount Sinai Hospital, Bridgepoint Active Healthcare and Circle of Care as an affiliate, extending SH’s continuum of care into home and community programs. The SH vision is to create a premier exemplar of an integrated health system for the future. Depending on the academic rank, qualifications and experience, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Compensation will be negotiated and will be highly competitive with the usual income range for an academic gastroenterologist in the Province of Ontario. The salary will be paid through the Department of Medicine's Academic Practice Plan. No benefits will be provided directly by the Practice Plan. Applications will be accepted until June 18, 2024.
