Location: Cape Town, South Africa Date Posted: May 13, 2024 This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced design professional with a passion for brand, experience managing a team of designers and a desire for continuous design innovation to support in the evolution of the Apex Group brand as it continues to grow with over 13,000 people globally. As a member of the Marketing&Communications Management team, you will report directly to the Chief Marketing&Communications Officer within a growing, cross-jurisdictional, energetic and high-impact marketing and comms team. You will be someone who is highly collaborative by nature, has strong stakeholder management skills, is exceptionally good at project management with a solid background in brand, design fundamentals and a passion for creative . As Head of Design, you will be working within a small but busy brand team and have a natural ability to work well under tight deadlines. You must be a results-driven, experienced and dynamic professional ready for a challenge. Job Specification: • Take the lead for the delivery of design and visual brand elements for the global Group across all sub-brands. • Manage a cross-border small team of designers and develop and lead the visual brand strategy for the Group and its sub-brands. • Continually evolve, innovate and improve on the visual manifestation of the brand seeking ways to improve on execution and output from the team. • Ensure delivery on all briefs by prioritising , delegating and managing and overseeing output from the team. • Be accountable for reporting on success metrics against a clear set of KPIs to determine the progress of brand strategies as part of a data-driven marketing team. • Examine business needs and priorities to identify the role of design and translate this into measureable initiatives and objectives . • Occasionally work with external providers on key briefs to support the strategy and be responsible for strict budget management of these initiatives. • Work with the Head of Content to ensure all digital messages are delivering an integrated messaging strategy, inclusive of design elements and copy. • Conduct Market research to support any required projects or initiatives and keep updated with the latest trends and best practices. • Provide mentoring and development support for your team, upskilling them in areas required. Skills Required: • 7+ years’ experience in working in design and marketing. • Extensive design experience in all common Adobe design applications to include, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and also in MS Word&MS PowerPoint. • Experience in creating digital animation is required. • Clear communication style in both written and verbal English. • Demonstrable initiative, enthusiasm, and can-do attitude to be a hands on manager, ability to multi-task, organizing workloads, planning ahead and encouraging and driving the team. • Willingness to roll-up sleeves and deliver hands-on help as part of the global t eam. • Ability to work to deadlines and work under pressure. • Good inter-personal skills and ability to build close-knit relationships. • Enjoy taking responsibility for multiple projects simultaneously • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills to manage internal stakeholders and the ability to work at a fast-pace and align with the rest of the marketing team. • Enjoy working with a diverse group of colleagues and stakeholders and also to work remotely with your colleagues and remain connected through regular calls and conversations. • A natural aptitude for collaboration and thrive on working in a high-pressure environment. • An empathetic leader who likes to both coach and empower their team to contribute to business and strategic goals. • A ruthless prioritiser , able to execute on multiple objectives at once while ensuring key milestones are reached in a timely manner. • Experience in the financial services space banking/fintech/professional services is a must What you will get in return: • A high level of visibility within a large organisation on an upwards trajectory. • The ability to define and grow your team to really make a positive impact on the business. • The opportunity to own brand development at a large corporate business at an inflection point in its growth journey. • Be part of a dynamic and fast-paced team that is highly visible within the business and makes a genuine impact on revenue and sales pipeline. • Opportunity to work with a diverse, agile and global marketing team. • The opportunity to be creative, bring discipline to brand activity and really make a difference.
