Overview As Head of Accounts Payable, you will have a good understanding and experience in managing the accounts payable function and team management. You will be expected to maintain and oversee accurate financial records, reconcile accounts payable transactions, ensure that all invoices and payments are processed in a timely and efficient manner for entities across the EMEA&Americas regions. You will be supported by two direct reports to assist you in your day-to-day activities. You should be keen to learn and enjoy a fast-paced, dynamic working environment and have an eye for detail. The pace of growth in the industry will mean that you will need to be a self-starter, flexible and able to manage many different work streams at once. You will have the opportunity to continuously add value to the function and finance team overall. Key Responsibilities: Accounts Payable Function Lead and mentor the AP team, providing guidance, training, and performance management on their daily tasks and responsibilities. Ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and payment processes are adhered to. Overseeing all payments are posted and bank reconciliations are complete on a weekly basis. Manage the weekly payment run proposals along with providing input to accountants for their cash forecasting purposes. Acting as first reviewer for all payments processed via the bank and payment portals. Responsible for employee expenses, ensuring compliance with company policy. Ensuring the AP mailboxes and clear at all times, investigate and resolving any accounts payable issues as needed, and maintaining high levels of service delivery. Build and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders (suppliers, budget holders etc.) Coach and develop two direct reports to ensure accounts payable controls are maintained at all times. Month-end&Reporting Ensuring month-end creditor aged trial balances are reconciled in a timely manner. Providing weekly payment listings to accountants for consideration as part of their cash flow forecasting. Providing input on weekly cash flow meetings to identify unforeseen costs. Liaising with auditors to provide required documentation as and when requests are made. Other Responsibilities Monitoring, improving and assisting in developing processes and controls around the Group: i.e.: payment runs, impact on cash flow, automation etc. Supporting the Finance team on projects and tasks as required, for continuous improvement Requirements Skills&Qualifications Matric required, Advanced Diploma or equivalent certification in Finance/Accounting/Business Administration advantageous Minimum 2-3 years' experience in an accounts payable or related function with good understanding of processes Strong knowledge of Accounts payable principles and practices Experience of overseeing and processing high volumes of transactions Competent working in a multi-currency transactional environment across subsidiaries Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and accuracy Experience in managing, training and developing a Team Proficient with Excel, Accounting/ AP software and ERP systems such as Microsoft Business Central which will enable continuous improvement Good Project Management, Organisational and Time Management skills to deliver to deadlines Experience with cash flow and VAT is beneficial Self-motivation and Interpersonal skills Due to hybrid working, please note only applicants who is willing to relocate or currently based in Cape Town will be considered.
