Reporting directly to the CEO, the Academic Dean will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of the institution. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned academic leader to contribute to the growth and success of our institute. As Academic Dean, your focus would be to:Lead the academic affairs of the institution, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals and objectivesOversee the development and implementation of academic plans and initiativesManage the undergraduate and postgraduate offering of the School of Education, including curriculum development, staff recruitment and student engagement initiativesDrive the expansion of our postgraduate offerings in education, contributing to our commitment to academic excellence and innovationProvide strategic guidance and support to staff members, fostering a culture of collaboration, academic rigor and continuous improvementEnsure compliance with Higher Education regulatory framework, including quality assurance, accreditation and review processes for learning programsCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance our reputation and academic standing within the Higher Education communityManage the integrity and quality of the institutional academic offeringProactively manage the key roles and functions within the Academic Division, such as the Heads of Departments, Research and Online Pedagogy staff, as well a fulfilling an oversight role of the entire academic divisionManage the institutional quality assurance and enhancement process regarding:o Programme design and development (Undergraduate and postgraduate)o Teaching and Learningo Course and module designo Online/distance teaching and learning pedagogiesMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSA relevant doctoral degree in education or cognate equivalentExtensive experience in Higher Education, with a focus on teacher education and academic leadershipProven record of accomplishment in managing undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education programmesStrong understanding of management principles and practices within an academic contextProven leadership experience within the education sectorThorough knowledge of the Higher Education regulatory framework, quality assurance standards, and accreditation processesProven experience in directing-and-managing an academic division, from strategy development to implementation, with oversight of operational mattersADDITIONALLeadership experience in an online Higher Education settingFinancial leadership skills within Higher Education, including budget development/management and resource allocationProven experience as a fair yet firm performance managerExperience in fostering research and professional activity among staff/subordinatesSKILLSExcellent technology skills and experience with learning management systems or education technologyEffective organisational and planning skillsExcellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skillsLeadership, conflict management and performance management skillsLOCATIONTOGI’s offices are in Cape Town, South Africa.
