Job Description Lukhozi ConsultingEngineers is recruiting a Professional Structural Engineer or Technologist for itsoffice in East London. The salary will bemarket related and dependent on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. Planning, design and contract administration ofengineering and building projects from inception to completion. Prepare engineering calculations. Prepare project and technical specifications. Provide input to engineering, operating and capitalcost estimates. Assist with managing and quality checking deliverables. Review and evaluate technical work prepared byjunior and intermediate engineers and play an active role in the continuingprofessional development of unregistered technical staff. Preparation of tender documents. Preparation of reports (Project Inception, Concept and Viability,Design, tender evaluation, progress, financial, close-out, etc). Day-to day contract administration and management of the structural worksof building and engineering projects. Handling of technical queries and resolutions and leading Site and TechnicalMeetings on site, including the taking of minutes. Communicate frequently with all professionals and clients. Handling of technical queries and dispute resolutions in conjunctionwith others. Assist with project safety and environmental matters duringconstruction. General office and project related admin. Requirements At least a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with emphasis onstructural engineering. Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Professional EngineeringTechnologist. At least 3 years’ verifiable post-registration experience inthe planning,design and contract administration of building and engineering projects frominception to completion. A strong background in the design of bulkwater, water treatment works, stormwater management and water retainingstructures will be advantageous. Experience with managing design teams, to complete tasks and producehigh quality deliverables such as design calculations, drawings, schedules, andreports on time and within budget. Proficient in the use of Master Series or Prokon, Microsoft OfficeSuite and Microsoft Office Project. Experience inthe use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, in particular ACCDocs and ACC Build and Revit, will be advantageous. Must have a strongclient focus.
