Reporting directly to the Division Head: Transportation SKILLs & EXPERIENCE REQUIREDBSc/BEng/BTech in Civil Engineering.Professional Registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng).Masters degree in civil engineering is preferred.+10 years’ experience at a senior level in the consulting engineering environment.Proven experience in transportation engineering e.g. geometric design and/or pavement engineering; and/or traffic engineering and/or transportation planning and construction monitoring and administration.Experience in the Eastern Cape region will be advantageous.Exposure to international projects will be advantageous.Administrative and human resource management experience.Active and successful marketing experience.Strong technical ability.Competency in using MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, ProMan (or similar), AutoCAD / relevant design software.Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills coupled with a sense of urgency and a participative management style.Excellent leadership skills.Excellent writing skills.Ability to work independently, but also as part of a very dynamic team.Deadline driven. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability and willingness to travel and stay away from home for specified periods of time as and when required. JOB RESPONSIBILITIESBusiness Unit / Office Strategy:Align BU strategy with Division / Office Strategy in conjunction with Division Head.Ensure implementation of BU strategy.Co-ordination and co-operation with Division Head and other Executive Managers to ensure effective project delivery and functional integration of the Company.Financial Management of Business Unit:Support Division Head with Business Development at local level.Prepare tendering strategy and pricing in accordance with Tendering Process TN_00.Prepare BU budget in consultation with Division Head.Prepare and submit monthly reports on Project management and profitability of BU to Division Head.Responsible for the profitability of the BU.Human Resources Management and Administration at BU Level:Ensure the optimal use of skills and expertise available in the BU.Ensure training and mentoring of BU staff.Disciplinary matters.Health and safety.Timesheet co-ordination.Staff utilisation monitoring.Staff meetings.Staff training and mentoring.Staff expense claims.Management of local BU Projects (from start to finish):Responsible for tender preparation and costing.Manage entire life cycle of local projects from acquisition and inception through design and documentation phases to implementation and close-out.Construction project management for local projects.Project Quality Management:Ensure QMS and PMOG is adhered to on every project.Ensure that the Division Head are informed immediately of any client complaints.Ensure that all client complaints are dealt with promptly, effectively, and professionally.Compliance with and managing direct reports compliance with the company’s Quality Management System (ISO9001:2015) Business Management System (BMS) and the Project Management Online Guide (PMOG).Technical Work:Keep Division Head informed of all project activities.Agree on a schedule of meetings which the Division Head should attend.Keep Division Head informed by providing copies of minutes attended and discuss “issues” as they arise.General:Maintain regular and continued professional development through on the job training, in-house courses, seminars or outsourced specialist training as required and as agreed with the Division Head.Achievement of objectives will be measured and reviewed during the annual staff appraisal.
