1. Job purpose To plan, organise and implement a quality assurance programme for all equipment in Nuclear Medicine. To play a lead role in ensuring the department maintains legislative compliance. To play a lead role in the administration of radionuclide therapies. To supervise and assist with the training of trainee clinical scientists, nurses, radiographers and technicians. To assist in the upload and maintenance of documents within the department’s quality management software 3. Clinical / operational responsibilities Main duties include but are not restricted to the following: To take an active role in the technical and scientific work of the department, ensuring efficient patient throughput and full utilisation of equipment. To plan, organise and implement a comprehensive equipment commissioning and quality assurance programme for Nuclear Medicine. To assist the Nuclear Medicine consultants by developing new workflows for image acquisition and data analysis, to include the maintenance and improvement of existing software. To participate in agreed Trust research and development programmes. To assist the Production Manager and Quality Control team in the safe running of the radiopharmacy. To dispense and administer diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Employer’s Procedures and local clinical protocols. To create new clinical protocols in conjunction with the Nuclear Medicine Consultants in line with IR(ME)R requirements. To participate in departmental audit of protocols and procedures. To take an active role in the risk assessment of both the Nuclear Medicine department and its procedures. To independently check therapy doses prior to administration. To audit and regularly update waste disposal protocols in conjunction with the RWA. To participate, when staffing is low, in all dispensing and scanning procedures carried out in the department. To provide advice and assistance on radiation safety to patients, carers and staff in consultation with the RPA. Ensure environmental monitoring and personnel monitoring is undertaken via regular audit. To undergo RCA training and actively participate in Trust incident investigations. Teaching and Training Participate in teaching, training and development activities for all staff and trainees. Participate in staff appraisal. Managerial To prioritise and manage own workload to meet agreed outcomes. To maintain records for all Nuclear Medicine QA and services. To assist in providing traceability of dosimetric calibrations to UK primary standards (where appropriate). Professional To maintain state registration with the HCPC and conform to the standards of conduct, performance and ethics. Register and participate in an appropriate CPD scheme. To work towards Nuclear Medicine MPE status by completing the required portfolio. To participate in local NAIR response. Attend suitable training courses, meetings and seminars to maintain CPD and keep abreast of current developments. #J-18808-Ljbffr
