RESPONSIBILITIES:1. WAREHOUSE AND LOGISTICS EFFICIENCYContribute to the creation and implementation of best practice logistics vision, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performanceOverseeing Warehouse maintenance and Scheduled DeliveriesDeliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirementsMonitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costsSupport continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunitiesEnsure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the help of direct reports (Warehouse Supervisor/s)Identify savings by removing waste or unnecessary steps in the logistics processInterpret trends and analyse and review data. Provide meaningful logistics data to others in the business to aid customer service and cost improvements2. PEOPLE MANAGEMENTManage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvementSet departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reportsReport on achievement of targets and identify any actions required3. FINANCIAL BUDGET AND CONTROLHold responsibility for department budget and ensure control on all expenses. 4. RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENTDevelop and maintain strong relationships with all connected with the logistics processEnsure all completed orders are dispatched on timeEnsure compliance with import/export regulations/customs regulations, where applicable, and legal and health & safety requirements. 5. HEALTH AND SAFETYComply with the Health, Safety and Environmental PoliciesEnsure that all functions under supervision operate in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitorsEnsure that the operation of the warehouse meets with the ISO requirementsStaff files to be updated and assessed regularly. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A Formal qualification in Operations Management/LogisticsExperience in steel industry is of critical importanceDrivers License ATTRIBUTES AND KEY SKILLSStrong Leadership skillsA logical and systematic approach to workGood time management abilityThe ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutionsCommercial awareness and numeracy skillsGood computer literacy (MSOFFICE / SAGE system and/or other relevant IT system) and the ability to handle electronic dataAbility to manage changeStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team, as well as manage peopleExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenNegotiation and analytical skillsA positive attitude to continued learning.
