Function Mental Health Care Facility Life Entabeni Rehabilitation Unit Position Clinical Psychologist Introduction A Permanent vacancy exist for a Clinical Psychologist (5 hours/day) , based at our 50 bed Rehabilitation Unit at Entabeni hospital in Durban, KZN, reporting to the Therapy Services Coordinator . The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring delivery of uncompromising quality care in line with Company Strategic Objectives and applicable Health Legislation. Critical Outputs Provide Clinical Psychology services to all patients admitted to Life Rehabilitation Unit, upon referral from the Rehabilitation Doctor, including on some weekends and public holidays. Conduct assessments, plan programmes and administer individual and group therapy treatment to patients with neurological disorders such as TBI, CVA, SCI, complex orthopedic conditions, multi-morbidity conditions such as Guillain Barre, etc. with the focus on neuro-psychological baseline screening and complex psychotherapeutic intervention and in in collaboration with other therapy disciplines. Provide sexual health management. Educate patients and their families about the patient’s condition and advice teams on management strategies. Contribute to weekly team and family meetings. Participate in discharge planning and carer training. Keep accurate and timeous records and reports. Professional therapy service implementation in accordance with Life Healthcare protocols and procedures. Function effectively as a part of an interdisciplinary team to meet the requirements of quality patient care. Effectively respond to queries and handle accordingly. Attend and contribute towards Continuous Professional Development activities of the unit. Supervise and train of university students, as required. Promote and maintain sound and productive relationships with referral sources and stakeholders in the field of Rehabilitation. Requirements Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and current HPCSA registration as a Clinical Psychologist. Experience in neuropsychology and sexual health management in disability an advantage. Experience in multi-disciplinary management. Basic/intermediate seating and spasticity management an advantage. Commitment to quality patient care and customer satisfaction.
