A position has become available for a National Environmental Data Controller to join our dynamic team. To provide assistance to SPAR South Africa’s environmental sustainability function by monitoring and reporting on key sustainability outcomes in order to improve the environmental footprint of SPAR South Africa and play a key function in the organisation’s journey to a just transition to Net Zero. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 1. Monitoring and Reporting Track and monitor the SPAR Group’s carbon footprint data as well as food waste volumes across territories, regions and corporate stores.Conduct environmental data analysis and calculation methodologies for scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions.Track and monitor key forest risk commodities and seafood products.Assist with the delivery of management reporting, including any mandatory reporting to regulatory bodies or agencies regarding SPAR South Africa’s state of compliance. Ensure data is aligned with external sustainability and public disclosure submittals, e.g. GRI/CDP. 2. Research and Compliance Interpret legislation, regulation, and industry rules that are applicable to SPAR South Africa for impacted stakeholders and implement practices to ensure compliance. Keep abreast of and communicate regulatory updates and practical application to functional teams to ensure that business operations adhere to applicable regulation. Assist with compliance in all business processes and alignment with organisational objectives. 3. Project Management Implement and manage various projects.Coordinate project scheduling and resource allocation. Assist with project costing. Provide support to other sustainability projects. 4. Administration Support the environmental sustainability team in meeting its business objectives by playing a sustainability generalist role.Maintain a sustainability library that will be available to all functional departments to educate and drive a culture of sustainability in SPAR South Africa. 5. Stakeholder Relationship Management Liaise with and support business units with policy implementation or action plans.Represent SPAR South Africa at industry level, including liaising with relevant industry and/or government organisations for best practice and continuous development.Effectively communicate developments in legislation to all relevant stakeholders.Degree / Diploma in Environmental or Agricultural Science or similar2 years’ experience in SustainabilityFMCG industry experience advantageous The ideal applicant will satisfy the following skills requirements:  Circular systems-orientated GHG inventory protocolsCarbon footprint calculationsResearch methods (qualitative & quantitative)Quality orientedGood report writing skillsGood interpersonal skills Team player who can function independentlyBe able to work effectively under pressureBuilding strategic and collaborative working relationships Kindly note: All applications are to be submitted through the Careers Site and Pnet.
