• Must satisfy unit competency assessment for appointment to the position of Fire Safety Officer. • The incumbent will be required to perform standby duties outside of normal working hours. • The incumbent must possess the credentials to be appointed as a Peace Officer in terms of Section 334(1)(a) of the Criminal Procedure Act, 1977 (Act No 51 of 1977) Physical Requirements: • Must be physically capable of performing the functions of the post which includes and not limited to climbing ladders, crawling into confined spaces, lifting heavy objects, turning valve wheels or pushing heavy doors. • Must satisfy medical standard for appointment. Job Purpose Responsible for the prevention of and the reduction in the incidence and severity of fires and other threatening dangers.
