(King Shaka Airport, KZN) About the Role: As the Financial Controller, you will be the custodian of all financial operations, ensuring that every transaction, report, and forecast is a testament to your expertise. You will be the key advisor to the leadership team, providing them with the financial insights they need to make strategic decisions that will propel the business forward. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the full spectrum of accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, reconciliations, cost accounting, and revenue recognition, ensuring compliance and accuracy. Produce timely and insightful monthly management accounts, offering a deep dive into financial performance and highlighting critical trends and variances. Develop and manage budgets and forecasts with precision, monitoring financial health, and providing detailed variance analysis. Navigate the regulatory landscape with confidence, ensuring all reporting meets local government requirements and tax obligations. Tackle complex accounting issues head-on, ensuring practices are in line with IFRS and other relevant standards. Lead the financial close process, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of annual financial statements. Fortify internal controls, safeguarding financial data and minimizing risk. Manage working capital and cash flow with finesse, supporting operational needs with well-timed projections. Streamline business processes and accounting policies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Assist with the annual audit, ensuring a seamless process and a strong relationship with auditors. Support costing and pricing exercises, providing the financial clarity needed for sound decision-making. Contribute to additional financial tasks, including monthly journal preparation, cost-saving initiatives, and B-BBEE compliance efforts. Core Skills: Technical prowess in ERP systems, particularly Sage or SAP, and the Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on intermediate to advanced Excel skills. A sharp analytical mindset, with the ability to dissect complex financial data and present actionable insights. Exceptional organizational skills, allowing you to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines with ease. Excellent communication skills, enabling you to articulate financial information clearly to all stakeholders. A detail-oriented approach, ensuring accuracy and precision in all financial endeavours. A track record of process improvement, with the ability to design and implement efficient systems and processes. Intellectual curiosity, with a commitment to staying ahead of industry trends and best practices. Candidate Requirements: Experience with ERP systems, preferably Sage X3 or SAP. Familiarity with the manufacturing industry is a plus. A solid understanding of IFRS and the South African tax and regulatory environment. Intermediate to advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills. Traditional Path: CA with 0 to 2 years of commercial experience. SAIPA with 2 to 5 years of commercial experience. CIMA at Management level with 0 to 2 years of commercial experience. ACCA with 0 to 2 years of commercial experience. Non-Traditional Path: Transferable skills to a finance role, with a strong numerical acumen. MBA with a concentration in finance, with 0 to 2 years of experience in a similar role or one with strong financial elements. Experience in developing and implementing business intelligence or analytics solutions is desirable. Proficiency in data and financial analytics is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, with 1 to 3 years of experience in data analysis or data science roles, preferably with exposure to financial or business data. Bachelor's degree in Economics, ideally with a concentration in finance or a related field, and 1 to 3 years of experience in roles requiring quantitative analysis, financial modelling, or economic forecasting.
