Our client has a vacancy for a Cost Accountant to be based at their Durban office. The successful candidate will be responsible for project costing, administration and analysis in the Financial Department. Duties include, but are not limited to:Tracking of all project cost detailsPreparation of weekly costing and work-in-progress scheduleReview costing details and financials with project managers to ensure accurate allocations and marginsRun project costing meetings with project managersManage project costing & closing and conduct variance analysisAnalyse production and over/under absorptionProduce invoice backups, related project status reports and process invoices in LN per project requirementsEnsure invoices are approved by clients per contractual terms of agreementConduct project-cost auditsReport on critical analysis with explanations on variancesBalance monthly work-in-progress, sales, and cost of sales per month-end reporting deadlinesComplete annual updates of labour and project costing recovery ratesAnalyse and review weekly labour costings in line with set recoveriesManage stock system administrationManage quarterly stock counts including stock variance analysisAssistance with internal and external financial audit processes REQUIREMENTS:Relevant B-degree. Chartered Management Accountant qualification will be a benefit5 - 7 years’ experience in a project and job costing capacityAbility to work independently, yet still contribute well to a team environmentDetail orientated with excellent analytical and problem-identifying and solving skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently and work under pressure to meet deadlinesExcellent excel capabilities and skillsExperience in using an accounting software systemSelf-starter who exhibits strong traits of initiative
