Main job function As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be required to offer your expertise within the electrical engineering aspect on several turnkey projects throughout the African Continent. You will be involved at the conceptual stage of projects to allow for accurate budgeting and project planning. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical consulting services to our customers Produce and integrate engineering solutions/designs for asset creation on behalf of customers at various stages of the project life cycle Electrical Power System design (Including MV power lines design) MV Switchgear and substation Design Motor control centre design System integration and evaluation Earthing of MV and LV power system Knowledge : Design experience of the pumping system Project Management Operations of pumping equipment, dosing pumps and large pumping units Water Purification and treatment processes OHS Act and its application National and International Engineering codes and standards QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS B.Sc. or BEng in Electrical Engineering PrEng (ECSA Registered as a professional Engineer) Experience managing a team of junior engineers Minimum 15 years in engineering design, management, and construction Minimum 10 years’ experience in performing electrical/mechanical design Extensive experience in design and construction of steel water pipeline, pump stations, reservoirs, abstraction works, and water treatment plants Legal knowledge of Employee Equity Act, Labour and Employment laws, OHS Act, Design compliance standards Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, various civil and water design software Driver's Licence is Essential Quality Management to ensure ISO compliance Regular inter-provincial and international site visits and meetings COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS Decision-making and accountability Ability to troubleshoot and strategize Attention to detail Organizational skills Deductive reasoning Oral and written comprehension and expression Leadership Analytical skills Strong communication skills Administrative skills Problem solving Project Management Skills Electrical Analytical skills, computer literacy Understanding of electrical design software (ETAP, Digsilent, etc.) Proficiency in CAD for electrical drawings and schematics Root Cause Analysis Mentoring and coaching Interpersonal abilities for diverse team environments Entrepreneurial mindset Financial management skills Negotiation skills Remuneration: Negotiable A Consultant will be in touch if you are shortlisted for the position.
