Location: JohannesburgPosition/Title:  Maintenance & Utilities ManagerReports To: Plant ManagerEmployment Type: PermanentNumber of Reports: 2Overall Responsibility:To lead, manage & co-ordinate the Maintenance effort and oversee the Utilities plant of the Brewery to achieve optimum Plant performance in the most safe, efficient manner.  The management of SHE, Security, Project Management & Waste Management is included.Focus Area 1Safety, Health & Environment ManagementEnsure Plant conforms to OHS ActSupport Occupational Hygiene, Safety and Sanitation driveDrive the Safety observation processCoordinate and deal with health and safety committees, department of labour, government bodies and regulating agenciesRoll out SHE Pillar of the Manufacturing excellence program & champion the processEnsure all health & safety aspects are in place as per the company insurance requirementsBuild relationship with Fire Brigade & Cape Town Emergency Services & Disaster Management TeamFocus Area 2Lead and Manage Maintenance & Utilities TeamSupport and entrench the company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performanceInspire and motivate the broader SHP team (not just your direct reports) to deliver on goals and maximize individual and the overall company performanceLead the TNA and development of training plan in order to develop staffCoach and mentor staff to deliver functional competenceRecruit, development and performance management of direct reportsManage and apply personnel processesCommunicate effectively in the workplace including to Shift teamsDevelop flexible multi skilled staffDevelop and integrate SOP's into ways of workSite & Building maintenance kept in good orderManage the operation of all utilities plant & equipmentContinuously optimise utilities process with the aim of reducing utilities costEnsure CO2 collection process is optimisedFocus Area 3Manage Security, Site Services & Waste removalManage contract & performance of security, Cleaning & Waste removal companyEnsure emergency systems (evacuation, fire alarms etc) are in proper useGardens to be meticulously laid out and maintained to create a welcoming feel upon arrival to siteFocus Area 4Translate and implement Manufacturing excellence strategyFully understand the Manufacturing excellence strategyDevelop and manage a ME roll out plan for Maintenance & UtilitiesCoach staff and call upon Pillar champions and experts to drive each Pillar of ME into Maintenance & UtilitiesConduct Pillar self-assessments of the ME program and close gapsSupport the Autonomous maintenance pillar roll outChampion the Maintenance pillarFocus Area 5Champion the Maintenance Pillar roll out/implementationWith the assistance of the Manufacturing Director develop a Maintenance Pillar handbook and assessment sheetEnsure all maintenance staff are trained by Manufacturing Director on agreed maintenance practices and planning thereofDevelop a Maintenance schedule upgrade plan for all equipment on site & roll out same with timelinesImplement a maintenance window/day planning system incorporating all Production and Maintenance work - optimise maintenance window downtimeIntroduce basic condition monitoring checks to the maintenance programIntroduce local manufacture of spares parts in an orderly way with accredited suppliersFocus Area 5Project ManagementOwn and drive allocated Projects meeting deadlinesAssist with planning forward of projects that are value add to the businessRequirements of the Role Qualification:Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Science, or other relevant qualificationMinimum of 5 Years’ experience in production, maintenance, and training environmentExperience in managing employeesGCC would be advantagesPreferred Skills/Competencies:Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and customer service skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong supervisory and leadership skillsProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareNB: Specific duties/responsibilities will vary from time to time: the above list is intended to indicate the general nature of the post and is not exhaustive.
