RPO Recruitment’s client in the retail industry is urgently seeking the expertise of a Warehouse and Logistics Manager to join their team in Cape Town, Western Cape.Responsibilities:Continuously evaluate and identify initiatives to improve the DC and logistics processes and performanceReduce logistics costImprove supplier and warehouse service levels (linked to scorecard)Supervise and coordinate activities related to receiving, storing, and despatching productsPlans inbound and outbound volumes with Warehouse Ops ManagerIdentify and rectify problem areas within the warehouse related to receiving, storage & despatchingOptimize layout and space utilization within the warehouseCalculate future warehouse capacity requirementsEnsure capacity plans are in place for seasonal / promotional activitiesImplement MHE methodologies to optimize warehouse cubeOversee inventory accuracy, tracking, and regular stock reconciliationsDevelop and execute inventory optimization strategies to minimize carrying costsEnsure supplier key master data is updatedDevelop supplier service level agreements and monitor and report on supplier service levelsTake corrective action against poor performing suppliers (in conjunction with Merchandise Manager)Resolve quality issues with suppliersEnsure suppliers deliver stock to the warehouse in the agreed truck configurationWith the Warehouse Ops Manager plan and optimize the distribution network to ensure timely delivery of products to stores while minimizing transportation costsOptimize delivery fleet configurationNegotiate and manage relationships with carriers, suppliers, and third-party logistics providersOversee the management of company vehicles repairs and maintenanceManage the warranty/guarantee/repair processes for the Warehouse and BranchesEnsure repairs/exchanges/refunds are executed within agreed lead times (including ‘out of guarantee’ repairs)Monitor customer communicationAssist branches with problematic complaintsAnalyze supplier returns (measure against SLA)Generate, amend, and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures related to warehouse and logistics managementImplement efficient workflows and best practices to increase productivityImplement new initiatives within the logistics chainLead and/or participate in new business projectsEducate key stakeholders (i.e. merchandise, finance, suppliers, and warehouse) on logistic processes for optimizationReview, amend, and create policies and procedures related to the logistics chainRespond to after-hour security calloutsIdentify security needsRegularly monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of security measures and identify real & potential security risks and make appropriate recommendationsAnalyze data to assess performance and make informed decisions and recommendations for process improvementsReport to management on, amongst others; stock levels, stock variances, damages, distribution, turnaround times on receiving and despatching, transport costs, fleet maintenance, repairs and returns.Develop, manage, and report on a budget for the logistics and warehouse departmentOversee staff, delegate duties to them and manage their performance.
