Position Title: Admissions Officer Location: Corner of Cedar and Sandown Roads, Milnerton Rural/Sunningdale. About Us: Cornerstone Institute is an independent, not-for-profit higher education institution engaged in teaching and learning in service of others, to advance human dignity and social justice for all. Position Overview: The primary purpose of the Admissions Officer is to process student applications in our automated admission system and assist prospective students who walk in. The Admissions Officer is responsible for the professional and efficient administration of these procedures, playing a vital role in ensuring that the student’s experience of being admitted to Cornerstone Institute is positive. The role requires a commitment to maintaining the integrity of admissions and registration processes and involves significant communication with Faculty and students. Key Responsibilities: Application Review and Validation Review applications flagged by the automated system for additional scrutiny. Validate the accuracy of applicant information and documentation submitted through the system. Ensure compliance with admission criteria and policies. Applicant Support Provide assistance and guidance to applicants throughout the admission process, answering queries and resolving issues. Assist applicants in navigating the automated system, ensuring they can complete their applications without difficulty. Data Verification and Correction Verify the data entered into the system by applicants for accuracy and completeness. Collaborate with IT to rectify any errors or discrepancies identified in the automated processing of applications. Communication and Coordination Communicate with applicants regarding the status of their applications and any additional information required. Coordinate with faculty and other departments to facilitate the review of applications that require human input. Process Compliance and Integrity Ensure that the admissions process adheres to institutional policies and regulatory requirements. Uphold high ethical standards and ensure the fairness and transparency of the admissions process. System Monitoring and Feedback Monitor the performance of the automated system and report any issues or inefficiencies. Provide feedback on the system’s functionality and suggest improvements based on user experience. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate records of admissions decisions and communications with applicants. Assist in the preparation of reports on admissions statistics and trends for institutional analysis. Maintaining Student Data Ensure all personal and academic records are accurately captured on the system Administrative Duties Assist with administration in the Registrar Department when required. Requirements: Demonstrate alignment with core values in decision-making, relationships and tasks. Bachelor’s degree, with at least 1 year of experience in office administration, preferably in a related environment. Proficiency in MS Office, MS Teams and FreshDesk. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of Cornerstone Institute’s Admissions policies, standards and procedures. Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports. Effective oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a diverse community. Exceptional organising and coordinating skills with excellent attention to detail. Proficiency in the use of automated systems and databases. Professional, flexible and able to multi-task efficiently. Strong conflict management skills. Capability to work independently as well as in a team.
