These jobs were popular with other job seekers Easy apply IntroductionOur client, a leader in the private healthcare industry, is looking for experienced Phlebotomists to work in an Emergency Centre at a private hospital in Cape Town Southern Suburbs in Western Cape.This is a is an opportunity to work part-time shifts. Complimentary indemnity insurance cover is offered.Duties & ResponsibilitiesJob Summary: To draw blood, or other samples/specimens, from patients for various testing purposes in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.Perform a variety of routine and complex blood and specimen collecting procedures in line with professional standards and regulatory requirements to ensure safe patient careConduct pre-and post-test counselling to patients and family members to explain blood draw procedures and answer any questions about the processIdentify, prevent and report risks to ensure patient safety and follow all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain a sterile work areaPerform administrative tasks to ensure correct and accurate recording and processing of patient and clinical informationEnsure that all utilised stock is accurately recorded and chargedBuild and maintain collaborative working relationships as part of the hospital emergency centre's multi-disciplinary teamRequirementsAt least 1 - 2 years work experience as a PhlebotomistRegistered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse or Phlebotomy Technician with a certificate in Phlebotomy TechniquesRegistered with SANC or with HPCSA as a Medical Technician in the category of PhlebotomySound knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and processesExperience in drawing blood from paediatric patientsArterial blood gases draw experienceKnowledge of the National Health Act and medical ethical guidelines in the medical pathology fieldFamiliar with anatomy, physiology and medical terminology relevant to medical pathologyStrong interpersonal skills and exceptional bedside manner - The ability to handle patients in a professional mannerWell-presented and professional communication skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential informationAdministrative skills and attention to detailProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)Interested?If you are interested in this opportunity and meet the requirements, apply directly by clicking on ‘Apply Now’.
