Private Chef Position Overview Join our vibrant household as a Private Chef, preparing meals for a family of six. Work with the Estate Manager to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Travel is required, both locally and internationally. Key Responsibilities - Create seasonal menus featuring Asian, Mediterranean, and South African cuisines. - Use your culinary expertise to craft dishes tailored to the family's tastes. - Plan meals according to the family's preferences. - Manage pantry and storage, ensuring proper stock control. - Maintain a clean kitchen and equipment. - Uphold high hygiene standards and safe food practices. - Source and order ingredients, considering seasonal availability. - Manage kitchen expenses within budget. - Lead kitchen operations, ensuring excellence. - Develop innovative recipes for exceptional dining experiences. - Travel with the family across South Africa and internationally. - Cater for special events and larger groups occasionally. - Present balanced meals with creative plating. - Adapt menus based on feedback and evolving needs. Requirements - Matric qualification (or equivalent). - Preferably, a tertiary qualification from a recognized institution. - Minimum 2 years of experience as a Senior Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef. - Demonstrated leadership in a culinary setting. - Proficiency in kitchen management, budgeting, stock control, and hygiene. - Valid driver's license and own transport. - Flexible working hours based on family needs. - English as a First or Home language and Afrikaans as second language or vice versa Competencies - Attention to detail - Decisiveness - Commitment to quality - Dutifulness - Ability to perform under pressure - Planning and organization - Trustworthiness and honesty What We Offer - A supportive work environment valuing your culinary skills. - Exciting travel opportunities with the family.
