The principal responsibility of the Flight Operations Manager is to take all possible and practicable steps to ensure the safety, security, and efficient overall operations of all aircraft. Ensuring regulatory compliance and that flight operations are conducted in a safe, professional and efficient manner, in accordance with Civil Aviation, Organisational, and Industry best practices and requirements. Key Responsibilities: Duties and Responsibilities will include the following but are not limited to: ·        Direct report to the Accountable Manager (Chief Executive Officer) on regulatory matters. ·        Compliance within the Flight Operations Department with organisational policy and legal requirements and to ensure compliance in accordance with Civil Aviation Standards and Regulations. ·        Providing strong leadership that conveys the organisations’ commitment to the highest possible safety standards. ·        The development, maintenance, and documentation of procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation of all AMS fleet ·        Responsible for the development, maintenance and currency of the organisation’s Flight Operations Manuals and other operational documentation. ·        Responsibility for directing the management of Flight Safety, line operations, and training within the department. ·        Represent the organisation in various capacities within the aviation industry and act as the primary interface with the Civil Aviation as necessary, to ensure that the AMS operations are compliant with the requirements of the AOC. ·        Responsible for the management and supervision of flight operations and crew training in accordance with regulatory requirements. ·        Oversee the maintenance of all the organisations’ required records for flight operations and training ensuring all personnel are properly licensed and authorised. ·        Ensure the competency of flight operations personnel is maintained to the required regulatory standards ·        Responsible for corrective action implementation within the department resulting from audits/inspections conducted. ·        Ensure that any contracted services meet the required standard ·        Amending and implementing Flight Operations policies and procedures to assure continued compliance with revised and new Aviation Operations regulations and best practices. ·        Ensuring AMS remains abreast of Aviation regulations and best practices within the industry. ·        Ensuring organisational flight standards are established and maintained in line with best practices. ·        Ensuring all organisational aviation operations documents, remain current and relevant. ·        Flight duties as required from time to time. Qualifications and Position Requirements: ·        Qualified Pilot with ATP and Instructor Rating (NVG experience advantageous) ·        Aviation management and administration experience. ·        Ability to analyse helicopter and fixed-wing contractual needs. ·        Comprehensive knowledge of civil aviation regulations, standards, and recommended practices. ·        Exposure to Quality or Safety compliance and audits. ·        Rostering and resource management essential. ·        Minimum of 3 years flight operations supervisory experience over several locations and aircraft types with a comprehensive understanding of key business drivers from both an operational and commercial perspective. ·        Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to influence all internal stakeholders and external bodies. ·        Able to demonstrate strong leadership, strategic vision, and managerial competency. ·        Must be able to satisfy and meet the requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority to be a Flight Operations Post-holder. ·        Affiliations with CAASA and HASA.
