POSITION : ENGINEERING MANAGERSITE :  Gauteng (Boksburg)PURPOSE OF THE JOBTo oversee maintenance operations and ensuring that all the needed schedules are in place, equipment are functioning optimally. Manage and optimize the Utilities operation to deliver superior service to the production depts. Implement the programs and systems to achieve and sustain high standards of plant & equipment capability, availability, and reliability. REPORTING TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER / GROUP ENGINEERING MANAGERMAIN RESPONSIBILITIES• Assist to implement capital and expense projects• Carry out *** projects to improve the capability of plant and equipment from installation to commissioning• Complete all *** projects within time, budget, and spec• Develop complete drawings and specifications, within discipline, for capital and expense projects• Implement programs and systems to achieve and sustain high standards of plant and equipment availability and reliability at the Plant. Ensure World       Class Manufacturing principles are implemented• Assist maintenance Planner to develop PM programmes and schedules for all plant and equipment at the Plant as per the reliability strategy adopted• Improve machine availability by actively reducing unplanned downtime using suitable problem-solving techniques (5Why, End state, etc.)• Develop standard operating procedures to develop engineering personnel and to ensure the safety of plant/personnel.• Conduct supplier audits to ensure equipment remains in its operational window• Ensure all statutory inspections/requirements as per the OHS Act related to machinery are fulfilled and records held.• Assist to prepare cost estimates for budget preparation, proposed projects, and other assigned work.• Optimize the utilization of water, energy, and other consumables to reduce the cost of operation• Develop engineering projects to reduce product cost, improve product quality and address safety issues.• Ensure that appropriate and adequate tools and equipment are provided to subordinates• Effectively champion sustainable development initiatives for the site• Optimize plant and equipment settings and operating parameters to achieve the best results of quality, productivity, and service delivery• Achieve all plant and equipment performance targets• Assist the Plant to implement the programs and systems to achieve and sustain high standards of Safety, Health, and Environment• Assist Group Engineering to coordinate all aspects of engineering work such as financial forecasts, development of bidding contracts, approval of  payment to contractors and vendors and turnkey efforts required for project completionKEY COMPETENCIES / KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS• Familiarization of the Corrugator and converting machines• Negotiation Skills• Planning, Organizing and Management SkillsREQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE• National N Diploma (N5/T3) in mechanical or electrotechnical (heavy current) with 2 years’ experience with similar equipment.• Trade Test as an Artisan – Mechanical/Electrical/Millwright with 5 years’ experience with similar equipment• Engineering Diploma or Graduate engineer (mechanical or electrical (heavy current)• Government Certification of Competency (Added advantage).• 3 to 5 years post Engineering qualification experience in a supervisory/management position
