GENERAL JOB INFORMATION: The incumbent will report to the Group Chief Executive Officer. The ideal candidate should be a motivated hard-working self-starter with fantastic managing and problem-solving skills and the relevant experience. The successful applicant would need to be deadline driven, proactive, dedicated, and meticulous. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Matriculation with subjects’ accountancy&mathematics; Qualified CA (SA) qualification; +7 years’ experience in a similar role; IFRS experience is compulsory. •  MS Office: Word, Excel&Outlook on an advanced level; •  Applicable and proven legislative/industry knowledge required. SKILLS REQUIRED: •  Attention to detail and high level of accuracy; •  Ability to work under pressure; •  Self-starter and excellent organising skills; •  Management of tasks&department; •  Committed and reliable with integrity; •  Good verbal&written communication skills in both English&Afrikaans; •  Professional telephone etiquette and client liaison. KEY DUTIES&RESPONSIBILITIES: •  To ensure that, across the group of companies, the financial systems, controls, policies, and procedures are sound and conform with IFRS, King IV, relevant legislative requirements i.e. Companies Act, Income Tax Act, FSB/FAIS, and Board requirements. •  Ensuring that audits (External, BEE, other) and reports are undertaken as necessary and conform as they should to regulatory and statutory bodies requirements. Act as main liaison with External Auditors (especially where complex financial issues) and manage the annual financial statements for the Verso Group of Companies; sign-off of these AFS as preparer. •  Oversee the management of all leases, contracts, and other financial commitments - ensuring all agreements are formulated in writing and actioned accordingly. •  Taxation functions for the group, including but not limited to – -  Review corporate tax returns; -  Estimate provisional tax and file and pay provisional tax returns for large companies within group; -  Review all responses on tax queries, VAT returns, EMP returns; -  Assist in tax planning structures; and -  Public officer for many of the group companies. •  Treasury functions, including but not limited to – -  Cash flow analysis and forecasts, -  Maintain relationships with major banks to ensure excellent service delivery as well as to identify new financial products that could assist the business in terms of risk management and profitability, -  Management of intercompany funding, including compiling intercompany loan agreements and performing Solvency&Liquidity tests, -  Monitor access controls and signatory requirements for bank accounts across the group (3 banks; 14 bank accounts) as administrator of the online bank portals. •  Review and oversee of compliance functions including regulatory reports (e.g. FAIS, etc.). •  Member of the Risk and Audit Committee. •  Managing the financial department (financial manager reporting to financial director) and the day-to-day financial function of the Verso Group of Companies, including monthly review of financial information, investigating complex financial accounting, reporting to directors on the financial status of each company, designing financial reports appropriate for the users. •  Financial accounting functions, including but not limited to – -  Manage the annual budget process to maintain accurate and timely submission of strategic plans. -  Responsible for the effective review and reporting of internal and external financial records and business analyses, including – -  monthly management accounts review and reporting, and -  monthly Payroll providing information to the parties involved (Medical Aid, Group Life, Paymaster etc.), reviewing of the payroll reports, reconciliations of GL accounts to reports. •  Compiling the financial groundwork on special projects and new businesses, reporting to the directors. •  Mentor&develop personnel from diverse backgrounds and foster a supported positive work environment for the team. •   Understanding of company secretarial work, trademarks, SARS inner workings. •   Good knowledge of BCEA, LRA, COIDA beneficial. •  Proven track record in reviewing legal documents. •  Deal flow: valuation of business, compiling and wording deal structure, legal negotiations and contractual review, implementation of deals. •   Develop and implement policies, procedures, and business requirements. •  Oversee HR function&payroll across the Group of Companies •  Other ad hoc duties assigned by the Chief Operating Officer or Directors. •  Other ad-hoc duties/ reports as required and assigned. #J-18808-Ljbffr
